Our new Find Your Flow® themed program is now underway. We’re calling this one Gymnast since that’s the culmination of the program, but as always, you’ll be enjoying a full body workout along the way.
The main focus of the Program is on mobilising and strengthening our arms and shoulders (much needed by all of our gardeners!). We’ll also be strengthening our core, improving our spinal mobility into flexion and challenging our balance.
We know that might sound daunting for some of us – but don’t worry – that’s one of the benefits of the six-week program!
We’ll start the session with a great warm-up, focusing on many of the muscle groups that we’ll be using throughout the session. We’ll then move onto some movements that you’ll remember from our last program – scooter or mermaid.
After that we’ll do more work on our shoulders, arms and core, offering a range of positions from which you can do the movements while we all get used to them. As ever, as the weeks go by, some of us will be ready to challenge ourselves by increasing the number of repetitions and/or increasing the weight of the springs. Importantly, you can work at the pace that’s right for your body on that day.
We’ll then start to move into the form needed for Tendon Stretch – a movement that, over time, will lead us into Gymnast. The full movements are performed with both feet on the moving reformer bed as in the photo above. But again, we’ll start with both feet firmly on the floor while we find our spinal mobility – and get used to being upside down!
Again, as we become stronger, more flexible and more comfortable with the movements, we’ll add levels of challenge until many of us will find ourselves flowing in and out of the full movements!
Over coming weeks, we’ll look in a little more detail at some of the movements we’re doing over the next few weeks. If there’s a particular movement you’d like to know more about let us know – we’d be delighted to delve into it!
