Christmas is coming!

Dear <<First Name>>,

There – we’ve said it – Christmas is coming!  The big day is little over a month away.  If you’re thinking of what to gift to family and friends, consider the gift of a healthy spine!  Our gift certificates can be purchased for any value and can be used in payment for any of our services – whether 1:1 sessionsduet (2:1) sessions or classes.

We tend to see quite a lot of duet sessions after Christmas, with friends and family supporting each other in achieving their health goals in a new year.  It’s always a real boost to have a cheer squad helping you reach your goals – and even better if they’re in the Studio working with you!

We have a great introductory offer of 2 (one hour long) duet sessions for £150 – that’s less than £40 per person per session!

You can buy your Gift Certificate below.

We are having great fun – while working very hard – on our Side Sit Up program.  We’re heading into Week 4 now and we are really noticing increased strength and mobility.  How is it for you?  Have you noticed any difference in your movement – not only in class, but in your everyday life?  We’d love to hear from you.

Our evening classes are going from strength to strength, but there are still some places free.  If you’d like to join us:
on Mondays at 6.30pm, we have an online class;
on Tuesdays at 6pm and 7pm, we have Reformer Plus classes; and
on Wednesdays at 7.30pm, we have a Reformer Fundamentals class.

All of our classes are suitable for any level of ability.  Our teachers are expert at offering different levels of challenge, so that you can work at the level that’s right for your body that day.

Want to join in?  Reserve your place below.

Have a great week and we look forward to seeing you in the studio or online soon!

All Things Pilates Community Corner!

This week we thought we’d take a look at the Scooter – it’s one of the movements in our Side Sit Up repertoire.

It can take us right back to childhood, as we ‘scooted’ around, free of inhibitions and movement restrictions.  Of course, some of us may still be ‘scooting’ now – although the electric versions are a bit of a cheat!

The Scooter (for some of us) is harder than it looks!  It challenges our balance; and it gets us into a squat and a lunge all in one flow.  It’s an ideal movement for the Reformer, but you can do a variation on the floor.

As well as improving our balance and coordination, the Scooter helps us with hip disassociation (see last week’s newsletter) and helps strengthen muscles in the legs and hips.  It helps us get our pelvis into good alignment and strengthens our pelvic floor.

One of the things we see and hear – and feel! –  when we’re practising Scooter is that one leg may be stronger than the other and/or one leg may be more stable than the other.  That’s not unusual, but if one leg is noticeably weaker than the other we may want to think about doing more repetitions on the weaker leg to help strengthen and mobilise it.  Talk to your teacher if you think that might be you.

So what are the benefits in everyday life?

We all benefit from good balance and coordination as we transfer weightat its most simple level, when walking.  Again, at its most simple level, we need the ability to squat to get up and down from a chair.  And lunging helps us climb stairs and hills (however steep the gradient).

All in all, the Scooter is a great exercise to help us perform simple everyday tasks (as well as tasks that are much more challenging) – so let’s get ‘scooting’ everyone!

If you’d like to experience the joy of the Scooter, reserve your place below!
