  Exploring Swan!
What’s on this week: 12 – 17 September

Dear <<First Name>>,

Like many of you, we were saddened to learn of the death of Queen Elizabeth II.  She was a remarkable woman, committed to duty and service, with a twinkle in her eye and real sense of fun.  Who could forget her spectacular entrance to the Olympic Opening Ceremony in 2012, or more recently, her chaotic tea with Paddington Bear!  Rest in Peace Your Majesty.

It’s lovely to see everyone back in the studio or online, looking refreshed and restored after the summer break.  It’s a great time to think about your health and fitness goals – we’d love to hear them and help you achieve them!

Some of you might wonder what we mean by ‘goals’.  We know that one or two of you have some huge goals in mind – rowing the Atlantic springs to mind!  For others, the goal may be to be able to get back on their bike.  For some of you, being able to get up and down to the floor (to reach the ‘thing’ that’s rolled under the bed) may be your goal.  Yet again, some of you may want to be able to move your neck and shoulders more freely (to reach the ‘thing’ on the top shelf without using a step-ladder).

Just like rowing the Atlantic, you’re unlikely to achieve these goals overnight, but with regular Pilates practice, they are within your reach!  If you have a particular goal, have a chat with your teacher – we’d love to help you on that journey.

Having spent a lot of time working on flexion in the studio and online (Twist, Scooter and Teaser), this week we’ll be working on our extension with the Swan.  See below for more information on this gorgeous movement.

If you haven’t tried  Pilates before, we have some amazing new client offers:
– two mat classes for only £18; or
– two x one-hour 1:1 sessions for £99; or
– a one-hour 1:1 session and a Reformer Plus Class for only £60; or
–
one-hour 1:1 session and a Mat Class (online or in the studio) for only £45.

Many of our clients have told us that a 1:1 session is a great way to familiarise themselves with Reformer or Mat Pilates and removes any nervousness about plunging straight into a class.  Why not give it a go?

Book your sessions below!

Have a great week and we look forward to seeing you in the studio or online soon!

All Things Pilates Community Corner!

We love the Swan and are excited to be focusing on this gorgeous movement over the next six weeks!  It will be the main focus of our online, mat and reformer plus classes – although you will, of course, get a fully body workout in your session.

The Swan has many variations and levels of challenge.  It can be performed on the Mat, the Reformer, the Ladder Barrel the Trapeze table and the Chair!  (We don’t appear to have a photo of Swan on the Reformer – yet!  Watch this space!)

What is the Swan all about?  As you’ll see from the photos, you’ll need to find great hip extensionthoracic spine (base of neck to bottom of ribs) and shoulder mobility and good pelvic mobility.  Some of you may associate the Swan with pain in your lower back – unfortunately, that’s not uncommon, but with the necessary building blocks in place and with a step by step approachwe’ll help you avoid that!

As always, we won’t dive straight into our Swan, but during each class, we’ll focus on the necessary componentsincreasing (or reducing if necessary) the level of challenge as our bodies become familiar with what’s required.

We’re really looking forward to sharing the Swan with you – why not join us?  Book your place below!
