We may have an exciting football match this weekend – Come on Lionesses! – but we are just as excited to introduce our new Find Your Flow®  themed Program – the Grasshopper!  We’ve had loads of fun putting together and practising the program – as well as planning modifications for those who need them.  Take a look at Community Corner below to read more about the focus of the Grasshopper Program and the benefits it will bring to your body!

We’re offering a full timetable of classes again this week.  As the holidays are in full swing, some classes are busier than usual, while others are quieter – this week, it’s the lunch time (Mondays and Tuesdays at 12.30pm) and Tuesday evening classes (6pm and 7pm) that are a little quieter.

The Studio will be open as usual on Saturday 26 August, and we’ll be offering the 10am class on Bank Holiday Monday (28 August).

Welcome Arion – Special Offer!

As some of you know, Arion joined us in June and brings a wealth of experience.  He qualified as a Physiotherapist in Brazil in 2010, to which he added a comprehensive Pilates qualification in 2015.  He worked extensively in health and care settings in Brazil, prior to moving to England in 2021.  He is now working towards registering his Brazilian physiotherapy qualification in the UK.

Since moving to the UK, Arion has been teaching 1:1 Pilates and Reformer Classes in a variety of settings.  He enjoys bringing a sense of playfulness to Pilates practice, while challenging clients to get the best from their practice.

Arion has some availability for 1:1 sessions on Wednesdays between 8.45am and 3pm.  To welcome Arion to the studio, we have an amazing one-time offer for up to FOUR lucky clients who’d like to try 1:1 Pilates.

All Things Pilates Community Corner!

This week we are moving onto our  new Find Your Flow®  themed program.  We’re calling this one the Grasshopper Program.  We are looking forward to sharing it with you over coming weeks!

As with all of our programs, you’ll get a full body workout, which will be great for your bone health and posture, as well as overall mobility and stability.  We’ll be carrying forward, with a few tweaks, some of the movements you’ve enjoyed in recent programs.  The main intention of the Grasshopper Program is to help us find extensions throughout our body – from our toes through to the crown of our head.  As the weeks progress, we’ll also be expanding our range of movement and increasing our endurance (by holding into stretches).

As we find length through the front of our body, we’ll be working on the connections between muscle and fascial chains running through the length of our body. We’ll also work on lengthening and strengthening muscles in our back and shoulder girdle and in our arms.

We’re incorporating a range of movements into the program and, as always, will increase the challenge as we get stronger.  Over the next six weeks, we’ll be working through a range of movements, including the ever popular Hip Stretch and Scooter to open our hips and find length through the front of our bodystrong core work with the Roll BackSeated and/or Kneeling Arm work to strengthen the back and shoulders as well as the arms; and the Grasshopper.

The Grasshopper movement (which we’ll build up to over the course of the program) brings together all of this work and is a really fun movement to perform – we’ll take a closer look at the movement in coming weeks!

As always, we’ll offer modifications for those who may need them.  Let us know if there are any positions that you find particularly uncomfortable (we know, for example, that some of you have difficulty in a kneeling position).  We can always find a workaround solution.
