(Another!)NEW: Reformer Plus Class
Monday at 10.00am

Dear <<First Name>>,

We have had an amazing response to our new Reformer Plus Class on Tuesdays at 12.30pm – thank you for that.

In view of the demand for daytime Reformer Plus Classes, we are opening another class on Mondays at 10.00am, from 31 October – just what some of you will need after the half-term break!  The class is open for bookings in the usual way – reserve your place below.

If those times don’t work for you, take a look at our Class Timetable for October (below) and book your place.  If you can’t find a time to suit, please let us know what would be your ideal time – we are always open to suggestions and if we can make it work, we will!

Just a reminder for any of you who may be thinking about coming back to the studio – we carried over your credits from pre-pandemic and from our previous booking system, but those credits expire at the end of this year.  To check whether you have any remaining credits, go to our booking system – select ‘Redeem Package or Gift Certificate’ and enter your email address.  Your credits will appear and you can use them to book your class.

We are delighted to have met a number of new clients in the studio recently, many of whom have taken advantage of one of our introductory offers:
– two mat classes for £18; or
– two x one-hour 1:1 sessions for £99; or
– a one-hour 1:1 session and a Reformer Plus Class for £60; or
–
one-hour 1:1 session and a Mat Class (online or in the studio) for £45.

Clients have told us that the 1:1 session is a great way of familiarising themselves with the Reformer, enabling them to jump confidently into a class!

We continue working on our Swan program and in Community Corner this week, we’re taking a look at Scarecrow – it’s another one of those  movements that helps us find extension in our upper bodies – read on to learn more about the benefits of the movement in our day to day lives.

Have a great week and we look forward to seeing you in the studio or online soon!

All Things Pilates Community Corner!

As we have been progressing through our Swan program over the last few weeks, we’ve been taking a look at extension in the front of the body.  Some of you have asked why this is important.  When we think about everyday life, we realise that our spine spends a lot of time in flexion:  working at a desk, using our phones, carrying shopping.  To counter that, spine extension is a gorgeous way of opening up the front line of the body and helps to strengthen and mobilise our spine.  This is so important for good posture and to ensure that our body is efficiently sharing the load, rather than placing too much emphasis on the upper or lower spine, leading to neck and/or lower back pain.

The Scarecrow is another of those movements that helps us mobilise and strengthen the thoracic spine.  It has a particular focus on muscles in the shoulder (rotator cuff and scapular muscles). These muscles help with all of the movement in our arms – so it’s really important to keep them healthy!

When performing the movement, we can really feel the scapular gliding across our ribs – a bit like a slippery bar of soap!  It’s quite a deceptive movement – to perform the full movement you need good shoulder mobility, which not all of us have (that’s why we’re practising Scarecrow!)

But, as always, don’t despair – our teachers have lots of ideas to help you build your strength and range of movement (on the mat, the reformer and other equipment).  Over time, you’ll find your shoulders feeling less rounded, your posture feeling more upright and the reach in your arms much greater!

If you’d like to experience the Scarecrow, book your place in a class – we’d love to share it with you!
